With just a little rain this week, it was a tough decision whether to go out prospecting or not this weekend. Sempr and I decided to give Contrary a try. We got to the creek around 8:00 am to find Goldveiner already setting up. He was meeting some new prospectors there and was going to break them in on his ProMac Dregde. What a way to start! We cruised downstream using his Artic Cat to do all the work. That's got to be the best prospecting tool ever!
We managed to find a little hole that would accomodate both his 3" dredge and my 2" combo. We had to redirect the water a little, but within a half hour, we were moving material.
Contrary wasn't as crowded as I expected (with the beautiful weather we were having). A couple from PA was working right downstream from us. They had been on the creek all week and said they had done "horrible" this week. Appartenly they visit once or twice a year and have been doing that for a few years.

We only stayed until about 2:00 pm or so. We were able to dredge in the center of the creek in a high spot that is usually covered with water. We took a nice little chunk out of "the island" and had a very typical Contrary cleanup. The best part about Contrary is that you will never strike out there. All in all, it was a great trip. The weather was awesome. I can't wait until we can get some rain so that we have more places to prospect.
