I decided on short notice (at 5 a.m.) to head back to CC today. Actually, I was supposed to have baby sitting duty at home so that my wife could go shopping, but she wasn't feeling well and excused me from my duties! Now how cool is that! Yes, of course I asked her if I should stay home anyway to help her, and she said "no, go have fun". What a partner! Anyway, I'll have the baby duty tomorrow, so I'm gonna make the best out of today!
For the second straight weekend in a row, the temps were supposed to get into the high 50's. I didn't plan on staying long today, I just wanted to get out of the house for a bit. I drug the 4" down to the same hole Steve and I were in last weekend. The water was running cold and clear.
I ran for 4 hours straight with no jams or issues. I spent most of the morning working directly on bedrock, or on the gray clay layer just above bedrock. Right around noon, a swell of water came down the creek. Steve arrived around 12:30 or so, and said that they may have broke one of the beaver dams upstream. The water level went up about a foot, which is a lot for CC. It was also very murky now, we couldn't see anything in the water.
The cleanup was actually pretty good, considering I had only run for about 4 hours before being stopped by the water surge. I also found a very neat rock. It's heavily mineralized and weights alot for the size. All in all, it was a good day. I wish I could have dredged a little longer, but no complaints from my end!
