2009 Eagle Rock Mining Expedition

Experience untold adventures while prospecting for gold on the North Fork of the Salmon River in Northern California.

Sponsored by The Claim Post, the Eagle Rock Mining Expedition is a team-based gold recovery operation in Northern California. The expedition focuses on effective, efficient, and environmental friendly methods of extracting gold from bearing gravels within the existing river channel. This mineral recovery operation consists of task-organized teams and focuses on area-specific recovery through the utilization of suction dredges.

The expedition is comprised of a series of recovery teams aligned in designated portions of the river. Each recovery team operates within an assigned section of the general recovery area. Teams are aligned in the river so that they mutually support each other and work towards the larger expedition objective of processing a larger section of river gravels.

Before deciding if you are interested in participating in the 2009 ERME adventure, please look at the below dates to make sure one of the timelines is feasible:

Group 1 (2 members): 14 July - 6 Aug
Group 2 (3-4 members): 18 July - 4 Aug
Group 3 (3-4 members): 25 July - 5 Aug

Selected members and alternates of the 2009 ERME team will be notified via email on Friday, 2 January, 2009. The selection process is based on the needs of the expedition and is not a contest of experience or popularity. The work involved in recovering gold is fun, but it is physically and mentally demanding and will require strong and able-bodied individuals. We will be operating in an unforgiving environment. It must also be understood that the expedition needs more than just prospectors running a dredge. The expedition requires a broad scope of experience in a multitude of areas. All interested persons are encouraged to consider this opportunity!

A very general timeline is listed below. There will be many activities that take place, and it is understood that all team members may not be able to attend each event. However, there are three mandatory activities which all expedition members (and alternates) must attend. Failure to attend results in immediate expedition disqualification.
